Chocolate-covered figs? I’ll be honest, I think the only figs I have ever had were in the middle of Fig Newtons. At first thought, covering figs in chocolate doesn’t seem like it would be good, but who knows? I didn’t think chocolate-covered blueberries would be as good as they are either.
The Figamajigs come in bite-sized M&M-like candies as seen above and also come in chocolate bars with or without almonds. The candy mixes figs with fat-free cocoa, then it’s covered with a very fine layer of dark chocolate. The kicker is that the center of the candy is totally fat free and the outside dark chocolate has minimal fat, thus making it a low-fat candy. For those on Weight Watchers, the candy only counts for two points!
The candy has been around for a year and is just now penetrating the marketplace in California and will show up at Trader Joe’s soon. You can also buy them online from the Figamajigs website

Well…they don’t *totally* suck.
I know that dark chocolate is supposed to be more bitter than sweet, but this chocolate is really bitter. I had expected for the sweetness of the figs to balance things out but it only serves to make the chocolate bar edible. The only thing I really enjoyed was the nice texture of the figs. It’s denser than truffles or nougat, but it’s not as chewy as caramel. It’s a really nice alternative.
I ordered the box of chocolate bars with almonds from the website because they don’t sell the candy in my area. BTW, the bars are so puny, that I can actually understand why selling them by the box or by the case would be a better move. But I don’t think I’ll be ordering this again.
RESPONSE: Great info! Thanks!
