This hollow toy axe, filled with cherry candies, bears the historic George Washington quote, I CANNOT TELL A LIE. It is offered for sale in historic Mount Vernon, VA.

That would make a great addition to a candy collection. One of the commentors even says “I bought one of those when we went there in 8th grade. Despite the misleading marketing, those suckers are pretty tasty.” I wonder what they taste like?

At least from this distance, those look to be the “sour cherry balls” I used to like at Disneyland. They have a crunchy/meltable coating on the outside and are the texture of a very firm gummy bear on the inside, all with that fake cherry flavor.
RESPONSE: Ahhhhh. I have had sour cherry balls before. I have no idea when/where though. I remember they were pretty good. Thanks for the hint!
