My four year old daughter came home from preschool today with a new project she had done. It was a brown sheet of construction paper folded in half like a book. On the front was written “I’m thankful for….”
What would she put inside? My wife has been volunteering at the Red Cross for 4 or 5 months now so she knows about Katrina….maybe she would say she is thankful for our nice, safe home. We’ve explained to her before that we are fortunate to have two cars and that not everyone has even ONE car. Maybe she’s thankful for our cars. We have told her that not everyone even has food to eat every day – maybe she is thankful for good, hot meals. We have told her there are some kids in the world that don’t have a Mommy or Daddy. Maybe she is thankful for having parents.
I open the card and it has drawings/shapes that I can’t recognize and one word written in by the teacher in black magic marker…..”candy”. She’s thankful for candy. Great. I think I’m a bad influence on her.
